Valencia’s local newspaper Super Deporte report on Friday afternoon that Everton are in talks to sign Aymen Abdennour.

The Spanish club have been keen to find a buyer for the defender, despite him only joining last year. Valencia’s new directiorn under Peter Lim hasn’t quite worked out yet, and after failing to qualify for the Champions League, they have to make sales to meet FFP regulations.

Super Deporte explain the Abdennour situation as one which has developed over the past few hours, and as far as they’re concerned there’s something genuine going on.

If a sale is completed, the newspaper believe Valencia will get somewhere between €18m and €20m, which would be a few million loss on what they paid for him.

Should Valencia manage to sell Abdennour, then it could make things harder for Arsenal to sign Shkodran Mustafi. Valencia would no longer have the pressure to sell someone, and so would have more power in negotiations, either pushing for more money or trying to refuse a deal altogether.
