Premier League side Everton are in talks with Flamengo for the signing of 17-year-old midfielder Reinier, according to reports from Brazil.
Globo Esporte says that officials from the Rio de Janeiro club have been in Europe to make a few signings, and stopped in England to hear about the ‘signaling of a proposal’ from the Toffees.
It’s claimed that the negotiations ‘got hot’ as Everton are willing to pay up to €40m for the wonderkid, including the initial fee and other bonuses.
After the talks, the Toffees are now considered ‘one of the possibilities’ for Reinier in Europe, along with the likes of Milan, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City.
Reinier only turns 18 in January 2020, so he wouldn’t be able to move now. The player is yet to debut for Flamengo, but has been showing all of his potential for Brazil’s youth ranks.
Journalist Ivan Raupp, who’s one of those credited for the story, has tweeted the article claiming that ‘the chances this deal being closed are good’.
