Italian forward Manolo Gabbiadini is set to leave Napoli after the expected, or hoped, arrival of Leonardo Pavoletti from Genoa in January.

Yesterday, we reported Stoke City have already made an offer of €18m for Gabbiadini, but Aurelio de Laurentiis wants around €23/24m for the 25-year-old.

Italian website Calciomercato have also thrown Everton into the mix, as they believe Gabbiadini’s agent is evaluating proposals from the two Premier League sides. There is also interest from other Serie A clubs and Bundesliga, but Napoli would only evaluate offers more than €25m.

Everton were strongly linked with a move for Gabbiadini in the summer, and their interest in him shouldn’t come as a big surprise, but it remains to be seen if there is any truth in these reports as the Napoli player has failed to make an impact in the first half of the season.

Stoke City’s interest also makes sense, as they’ve haven’t scored too many goals this season, and could very well do with another striker.

But for both Everton and Stoke, more than €25m simply seems overpriced. Gabbiadini is 25 years of age, not some great young talent, he’s a reasonable level striker having a difficult season, and his club want to replace him… €25m would be fortunate for Napoli.
