Everton star Richarlison is being sued by his former agents, according to a report from Brazil.

Globo Esporte writes that while concentrated with the national team on Friday, the Toffees forward was visited by a legal official who let him know of the process.

The story says the accusations are made by Ricardo Mendes and Luciano Martins, who back in 2015 had a five-year agreement signed by Richarlison to by represented by them.

It was in that same year that both agents made a partnership with Lucca Bertolucci, who works for Richarlison to this day, along with Renato Velasco.

Only his new officials handled his transfers, and the first representatives were apparently never paid for them.

Richarlison completed moves to Fluminense, Watford and Everton.

For those transfers, Mendes and Martins claim they are owed R$13.4m (£1.96m). They also want 5% of the player’s salary over the past five years, which results in R$6.3m (£920k) more.

Speaking to Globo Esporte, the officials who are putting forward the action explained that they could never get a response from Richarlison and his current agents.

“Unfortunately, we had to make the decision to go to court to sort this situation. We looked for Richarlison and Bertolucci a few times but we were unable to talk or receive what is rightfully ours. We have all documents signed by them. We just want to receive what’s ours, what’s fair.”

Globo Esporte also had a statement from Richarlison’s staff, claiming he has nothing to do with that debt.

“The player clarifies that all commissions due throughout his career were fully paid, either by the athlete himself, or by the clubs he played for. In this way, the demand is not related to the athlete, but rather to a discussion carried out by third parties. His lawyers are trying to exclude him from inappropriately assigned liability.”
