Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been ‘proposed’ to Roma as they continue their hunt for a new centre-forward this summer.

That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who have the Everton man on the front page of their newspaper today.

The newspaper reports that Calvert-Lewin is the ‘latest name’ to be offered to the Italian side as they continue their hunt for a replacement for Tammy Abraham.

According to their information, Calvert-Lewin is looking for ‘redemption’ away from Everton, where his last two years have been blighted by injuries and he’s managed just seven goals in two campaigns.

Roma are looking into the idea, but the proposal would have to be ‘evaluated for the costs’ involved and they would only be willing to agree to a zero cost loan with a right to buy included at the end. Nothing mandatory.

The belief is that Everton could be tempted by such a deal to let the striker re-evaluate himself in Italy before looking to move him on. Calvert-Lewin, for his part, ‘would be happy’ to settle in Rome under Jose Mourinho’s guidance for a year.

The Portuguese manager is also open to the idea of bringing him in, although he would prefer the club to sign Alvaro Morata this summer.

That decision is out of his hands, though, and if he were to be given Calvert-Lewin instead, ‘he wouldn’t complain’ so long as they are added to his squad quickly.
