On Tuesday, we covered an article from Le10 Sport regarding offers being made for Yves Bissouma after Sky Sports News claimed both Everton and Tottenham were interested in the Lille midfielder.
Using the power of deduction, we suggested that Schalke 04 were probably the most likely to have been the club to come forward, mostly because Leon Goretzka has already agreed to join Bayern Munich.
Well, Foot Mercato on Wednesday have confirmed what we were thinking, reporting the German side are the only one to have made a ‘concrete approach’ for the alleged Everton and Tottenham target.
As things stand, Bissouma has yet to make a decision about his future, and the French website report a meeting is expected to take place between Lille and the midfielder in the coming days to sort everything out.
Knowing he’ll get more money abroad, the 21-year-old is said to want the same recognition (including wage wise) in the Lille squad as the likes of Thiago Maia and Thiago Mendes.
This means we’ll probably have to wait a bit longer to find out whether the Toffees and Spurs have a chance of getting the Mali international.
If they want to sign him, however, Mauricio Pochettino/Daniel Levy and Marcel Brands (Everton’s new director of football) will have to make a move first.
That’s kind of how things work in the transfer market.
