When covering the list of scouts who watched the Portuguese Cup clash between Benfica and Braga on Wednesday night, we’ve spotted several English clubs.
The likes of Blackburn Rovers, Bournemouth, Everton, Manchester United and Southampton all saw the Eagles’ 2-1 win, along with other sides from Spain, Italy and Germany.
Now it was time for Porto to play Santa Clara, with the Dragons getting a thin 1-2 win at the Estádio do Dragão.
And according to newspaper O Jogo, only two foreign clubs have requested entrances for this match. They were Everton and Southampton.
Lisbon isn’t that close to Porto, so both the Toffees and the Saints were making sure they could see the Dragons play the Cup’s round-of-16 as well.
It was Shoya Nakajima who scored Porto’s winner and was the man of the match. He was linked to Southampton before leaving Portimonense last summer, and Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side would have a much harder job to take him from Porto now.
