Everton are still scouting Udinese defender Rodrigo Becao and have been ‘sounding out’ the Brazilian in the last few hours.

That’s according to Il Messaggero, relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb, who say talks are also underway the Pozzo family over Ismaila Sarr.

Becao has been linked with a move to Everton since the summer, when the Blues were reportedly keen on him as part of the rebuild of Frank Lampard’s defence.

They ultimately didn’t make a move for him as they elected to sign James Tarkowski on a free transfer from Burnley and Conor Coady on loan from Wolves.

They have continued to be linked with his signature, though, particularly with Yerry Mina set to leave on a free transfer in the summer and Michael Keane linked with a departure next month.

A report towards the end of November insisted they were holding out for the player and the next few weeks would be key to a potential deal happening.

Il Messaggero hint that is now happening, stating that the Toffees have been ‘sounding out’ the defender in the last few hours.

They also claim that talks are underway with the Pozzo family, who own Udinese, alongside joint conversations about Ismaila Sarr, who plays for their other club Watford.

That would be a separate deal of course but there has been a ‘enquiry’ for the defender and talks are seeming underway for Everton to get him in January.
