Everton interest has once again been claimed in Juventus goalkeeper Neto. It comes via Football Italia who say SportMediaSet reiterated that Everton are still interested in the Juventus back-up.

Neto to Everton links keep popping up every few days, with the player frustrated at playing second fiddle to Gianluigi Buffon. Of course, Juve were hardly likely to dump Buffon in favour of the Brazilian, but Neto at least expected a chance to show what he can do, and that’s not how things have transpired.

A move would surprise nobody, and Neto is keen to get himself first team football somewhere. There are likely to be takers, but at this stage it’s unlikely Everton are going to be one of them.

Under a week ago Sport Witness spoke to Neto’s agent and he made it clear the deal is dead right now, although he did confirm earlier Everton talks.

“Yeah, in summer,” said Neto’s agent Stefano Castagna when asked by Sport Witness if he had any talks with the English club.

But when questioned if there’s the possibility of finding a deal with the English side, he was very clear: “No, absolutely no.”

Castagna also made clear there’d been no contact since the summer transfer window closed.
