The Brazilian press confirms that Bernard is currently having his medical to sign for Everton on a free transfer.
The player was first spotted by Sky Sports, and now website Globo Esporte confirms that he’s having the exams today. However, the Brazilian outlet says that the contract will be signed on Thursday.
Globo Esporte says that 25-year-old came close to agreeing a deal with Chelsea, and then with Milan, but ended up choosing the Toffees because of the conditions offered by the club.
Bernard is expected to sign a four-year deal with Everton, and will have a salary of €6m per year. The report adds that he will have a €45m release clause.
Signed by Shakhtar Donetsk from Atlético Mineiro in 2013 for €25m, Bernard spent five years in Ukraine. He’s had 28 goals and 35 assists in 157 games for the club, having won three league titles and three cups.
