Everton appear to have missed out on signing Luiz Henrique from Real Betis, as Lyon close in on a deal for the Brazilian.
That’s according to ABC Sevilla, who say the two sides are about to close a deal for the winger worth €20m that will initially see him join Botafogo on loan, another group in John Textor’s collection.
The deal is set to be closed in the next few hours, with Betis happy to sell to help balance their books and give them funds to strengthen Manuel Pellegrini’s squad before the end of the window.
The newspaper explains that the attacker had been scouted by many clubs, naming Flamengo, Everton and Leipzig in particular but it is Lyon who have reached an agreement for him.
Their proposal has convinced Betis into a sale and the opportunity to take advantage of the profit from it is one the Spanish side have decided they cannot pass up.
Lyon have seemingly stepped in to offer them the money that they’ve always wanted, with reports throughout this month indicating a deal with Everton was unlikely as they were only offering a loan and Betis wanted money.
ABC Sevilla seem to indicate the Toffees interest didn’t go beyond the scouting and exploratory stage and now it’s over entirely as Henrique heads to France, to then go on loan to Brazil.
