According to a claim in the Turkish media, Everton are prepared to table an offer for Besiktas captain Oguzhan Ozyakup.

The Turkey international will be out of contract with the Turkish side in the summer, and he’s been linked with a move to the Premier League side this week.

Fotospor report Everton are ‘the most serious’ club to sign Ozyakup in the next window, and the Toffees are ‘ready to pay’ £13m for the 25 year old, despite the possibility of signing the player on a free at the end of the season.

It’s been claimed this week Everton are hoping to commence talks with Besiktas, and if they don’t sign him during the next window they can speak to him in the new year with regards to a pre-contract agreement.

In recent months it’s been well documented in the Turkish press Ozyakup could leave Besiktas in the next window or in the summer, with England being his likeliest destination.

The former Arsenal midfielder has lost his place in the Besiktas starting eleven in recent weeks, and was again named as a substitute on Friday night. With his place in the national team also under threat because of his situation with the Turkish champions, he may need to find a new club.

It’s worth noting a lot of claims have been made about Ozyakup’s future and Everton are just the latest to be seriously linked.
