Everton look set to miss out on Granada goalkeeper Rui Silva after he signed a pre-contract agreement with Real Betis.

Silva’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and he has been linked with a number of clubs this month as a result.

Everton are one of those to have been linked, with it claimed at the beginning of this month that they have made a ‘very important proposal’ to the goalkeeper and were ‘determined’ to secure his signature.

However, it appears they are now set to miss out on the 26-year-old as Real Betis have stolen a march on the competition.

Mundo Deportivo say they have an agreement with the goalkeeper after managing to close a deal with his representatives.

Interestingly, though, that deal can be ‘broken’ if the Silva decides not to honour the arrangement, perhaps if he receives a better offer from the likes of Everton.

In that eventuality, he can compensate Betis with a fee specified in the pre-contract signed by both parties and move elsewhere.
