It’s become clear that Everton need some reinforcements in January, but how they afford them is a completely different matter.
We’ve seen talk of moves for Anthony Elanga and more recently Largie Ramazani, and now there are stories about the Toffees coming forward for Randal Kolo Muani.
The news stems from RMC Sport, who look at the situation surrounding the Eintracht Frankfurt star, who showed the world his talent on the biggest imaginable stage: the final of a World Cup.
He came on and helped turn the game around for France, even if Argentina still lifted the trophy, but his impact didn’t go unnoticed, with Everton seemingly thinking he could help Frank Lampard.
The issue is that he will not be cheap, and it’s explained that Eintracht, even prior to the World Cup, wanted €50m for him, and the moment he was called up to replace the injured Christopher Nkunku, that went up to €60m.
Now, it remains to be seen what happens between now and the end of the season, as a continuation in his good performances could see that price tag soar even further.
That’s when Everton are mentioned, as it’s stated that ‘for the past few days, the phones of the leaders of Frankfurt have been ringing’.
Kolo Muani is ‘very courted’, and the Toffees ‘came for information’ rather ‘recently’.
However, it’s made very clear that Frank Lampard’s side are ‘probably starting from too far off’ to have a chance, especially with clubs in better league and financial positions lurking around, like Tottenham, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
