Losing 2-0 to West Ham on Saturday, Everton’s situation went from bad to worse, adding extra pressure on Frank Lampard.
The Toffees boss has still to be sacked, with Farad Moshiri refusing to fully comment on the situation, stating the decision was out of his hands, but with just one draw from their last nine games, it appears to be a question of when and not if.
That means Everton will have to oversee yet another managerial change, but it will be a far tougher sell than anything they have faced before, such is the dire state the club is in.
Still, this doesn’t appear to stop the Goodison Park board from dreaming big, with a report in Italy suggesting that they could try and convince Maurizio Sarri to come in.
That’s according to Il Messaggero, relayed by Tutto Juve, who state that Everton are ‘ready to compete’ with Spurs and the Hammers for the Lazio manager.
He appears to have a ‘lot of market in the Premier League’ despite having spent just one season in England, managing Chelsea, admittedly finishing third and winning the Europa League in the process.
Still, you would think it would take a fair chunk of convincing to get him to agree to swap a team currently sixth in Serie A with one currently tied on points with rock bottom Southampton.
