We’ve reached a part of the season where Everton fight against relegation and are linked to an €80m star at the same time.
It’s well known that the Toffees have their priority in the Premier League right now, as they currently stand 19th in the table and desperately need wins to stay in the top flight.
However, as newspaper Record today features a story about Marcus Edwards negotiating a new contract with Sporting, we see Everton named as one of the contenders for the signing.
The outlet writes that the Lions are worried about the clubs who shall come in for him in the summer window, and that’s why they opened talks to raise his release clause from €60m to €80m.
Sporting are said to be open to a potential summer sale, and just want the clause raised so they have a bigger margin of negotiation when the time comes.
Edwards is said to have many admirers in the Premier League, and Everton are said to be ‘among them’.
The English winger has 12 goals and 12 assists for Sporting this season, and should soon have the opportunity to go back home.
