Jose Mourinho’s arrival at Manchester United was always going to put Juan Mata’s future at the club in jeopardy.
Recent reports have linked the Spaniard with a move to Everton, with Mata’s previous club Valencia also tipped as a possible destination.
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Mata was offered to Barcelona at the start of the summer, but the Catalan giants denied the opportunity to sign him.
The player has also been offered to several other Spanish clubs, but Sport believe Everton are in pole position to sign him. Valencia are also in the race to sign Mata, but it’s a bit unlikely they can match Everton’s financial offer.
It is reported Mourinho is keen on getting rid of Mata quickly, and has even made the player available for a cut-price deal.
Sport say only Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid can afford the player in Spain, but none of them seem to be interested at the moment.
