Fenerbahçe have made an official offer to Everton to sign striker Beto in the January transfer window.

That’s according to journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu. He reports that the Turkish side have ‘made an official offer’ for the striker but does not mention the nature of this offer.

The journalist then adds in a second tweet that Beto’s agent has arrived in Istanbul to speak to Fenerbahçe about the transfer. He repeats that an official offer is with Everton.

Beto currently finds himself playing as back-up to Thierno Barry at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. The French striker’s improved run of form over recent weeks has seen him relegated to a back-up role once again.

Reports have suggested that he could depart as a result. A return to Italy, where he previously impressed at Udinese, seemed the most likely.

That also tallied with reports that Everton were exploring deals for another striker. They had targeted Youssef En-Nesyri, but that does not look likely to happen. He appears destined to move to Serie A instead.

Instead, it appears Türkiye will be Beto’s next destination. The fact that the Everton striker’s agent is in Istanbul for talks would suggest it is progressing quickly.

What remains to be seen is the deal that is done. Turkish sides tend to prefer loan deals in January, and this is likely to be the case here.

In fact, Beto is likely being targeted as a replacement for En-Nesyri, which is ironic given the Moroccan could have been his replacement at Everton this month.
