Since Richarlison was called up by Brazil for the first time, the player has been standing out as one of the favourite stars in the squad.
The Brazilian press frequently has stories about how much the squad and the technical staff like the Everton forward, and this Tuesday, Globo Esporte brings an interesting article on his role in the team.
The bad news is that Richarlison isn’t the number one choice for any of the positions. Even though he can play on both wings or as a centre-forward, Tite still doesn’t believe he deserves the place of Neymar, Roberto Firmino, Willian or Douglas Costa.
Still, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t have some importance in the squad. Globo Esporte writes that these difficulties ‘shouldn’t stop’ Richarlison from being called up for the Copa America in 2019, as long as he keeps showing the same discipline and commitment at Everton.
Globo Esporte takes recent quotes from Tite showing he knows Richarlison has taken his chance, and gives all the credit to the player for having proved himself.
“Opportunity in life does not knock on anyone’s door. It’s not a figure of speech, a fable, it’s not. You have to prepare yourself so that it can arise. Richarlison is a clear example of this. I myself went to the Grêmio being fourth or fifth option as a coach, and thank Falcão until today because he was the first.”
