It seems things are only getting worse for Yerry Mina this season.
The defender, who’s been struggling with injuries since his move to Everton, could now be sidelined for a couple more months, according to the Colombian press.
Journalist Diego Rueda, from Radio Caracol, a major outlet in Colombia, says Mina could miss from six to eight weeks, and that could mean not playing the Copa America in Brazil.
Rueda says Mina has a problem with the femoral biceps of his left leg (more likely than not a hamstring issue), and there’s the real risk of him not being fit for the tournament in the summer.
The Copa America starts on June 14th.
Mina’s latest injury, picked up in Colombia’s friendly against South Korea, was full of controversy.
Everton manager Marco Silva has claimed that the club warned the national team about the risk of a new injury, but still, manager Carlos Queiroz used the defender as a starter for two games in a row.
During the match against South Korea, he went to clear from the edge of the area and missed the ball completely, injuring himself in the process.
