Everton defender Vitaliy Mykolenko has found himself being attacked by Ukrainian fans during the international break.

That’s according to Champion, who cover the player today and how he’s found himself in the middle of fan anger on international duty too.

They explain that the fans of the Ukrainian national team attacked the player after the 3-2 defeat to Czech Republic in the Nations League.

The Everton man was particularly targeted, with people cursing him after he came over to the stands to talk to fans after the game.

A plastic cup was then thrown at Andriy Yarmolenko as he came over to Mykolenko to draw him away from the fans.

The incident was a clear demonstration of the growing unrest among the Ukrainian fanbase, who have seen their side fail to secure a point in the Nations League so far after defeats to Albania and Czech Republic.

Mykolenko was seemingly trying to calm the situation down but ultimately ended up on the wrong end of that frustration instead.

It’s disappointing for the Everton man, who was perhaps hoping the international break could provide a respite from the drama surrounding Goodison Park. Instead, he’s found himself facing more frustrated and unhappy fans.
