Reports from Brazil claim that Everton haven’t given up on their chase of Grêmio star Everton Cebolinha.
Even though claims from Portugal say Benfica are really close to signing the player in a €20m deal, stories from South America say his future is still open.
Globo Esporte reports today that the latest meeting between Grêmio and the Eagles had no agreement, since the Brazilian side are pushing for more money.
Their report says Everton are offering ‘a similar amount’ to Benfica, and since there’s been no deal with the Portuguese side, the Toffees are alive in the race.
Globo Esporte’s report is very similar to one we covered from UOL earlier today. That story also claimed that the player would rather move to Portugal due to an easier adaptation.
UOL reported that Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti called the winger last week, but still wasn’t able to convince him to join the Toffees.
Since Benfica seem to be struggling a little bit to reach the amount demanded by Grêmio, perhaps the Goodison Park side could have a bigger chance if raising their offer for the 24-year-old.
