Following reports from the English media this week claiming that Everton are interested in Porto winger Gonçalo Borges, we now get to see an interesting response from the Portuguese press.
Newspaper O Jogo features a story claiming that even though the Dragons have never shown willingness to let the 22-year-old go, they’re actually open to analysing offers.
Porto are working hard to keep their main stars in the team, and that means that players like Borges, who isn’t always used, could end up being sacrificed.
That means Everton would definitely stand a chance, at least as long they can satisfy the Dragons with a good offer.
O Jogo don’t say what Porto’s request would be, as they only claim that Borges’ exit would be very interesting from a financial point of view.
The winger is protected by a €50m release clause, but Transfermarkt values him at just €2m, and it seems Everton wouldn’t need to spend a lot to reach a deal.
Borges only has 23 appearances for Porto’s first team, with no goals or assists so far.
