It’s fair to say that Everton, so far at least, haven’t had a good end to the transfer window.
The Toffees have been linked with multiple players, but haven’t really seemed to seriously go for anyone. Everything has appeared to be a half attempt, with the club quickly moving on to someone else.
With Sean Dyche taking over from Frank Lampard this week, adding to the Everton squad seemed the natural thing to do before the window closed. Relegation needs to be avoided and Dyche could have obviously been helped by some additions.
Italy’s Calciomercato now report Everton made an offer to Olivier Giroud this week. It’s stated the Merseyside club proposed a salary of €3.5m until the end of the season, with an added €2m bonus payment if they stayed in the Premier League.
If they achieved that aim then Giroud would have received €8.5m next season. His contract with AC Milan expires at the end of the season, so that was obviously a route in.
However, it’s stated the Frenchman refused the approach and didn’t even speak to Milan about it.
