Earlier on Friday, Sport Witness covered a little Everton-related transfer bomb coming from Turkey.

Fenerbahçe have made an offer for Beto. The Turkish club are set to part ways with Youssef En-Nesyri, and need to bring in a striker.

Several options have been targeted in recent days. One of those has been Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta. However, he wants to represent France at the World Cup and feels he needs to be in a top league to do so.

Therefore, for now at least, he’s snubbing the idea of a move to Fenerbahçe and the Süper Lig. Impressing Didier Deschamps is key and Mateta doesn’t feel Istanbul is the best place to do that.

Fenerbahçe then turned their attention to Everton and Beto. The player’s agent has flown to Turkey for talks, although there were no figures attacked to the offer.

Yağız Sabuncuoğlu is one of the most prominent football journalists in Turkey. He’s just provided an update on the situation.

Bringing an exclusive, he states: ‘Everton, in their negotiations with Fenerbahçe for the transfer of Beto, once again requested Youssef En-Nesyri and said, ‘We are open to a swap.’

‘Fenerbahçe had reached an agreement with Juventus yesterday for the player’s transfer and had begun awaiting the Moroccan striker’s response.’

Everton thrown back into mix

Everton made a move for En-Nesyri earlier this month, as did Nottingham Forest. The Morocco international isn’t thought to be keen on a move to England, partly because of the weather. That was also a reason given when he repeatedly refused to leave Sevilla for West Ham.

Turin isn’t exactly known for sunshine and high temperatures, but perhaps the added pull of Juventus helps.

These Everton claims could be a genuine Toffees attempt to have another try for En-Nesyri, or perhaps Fenerbahçe sources trying to hurry the player and Juve along with the Turin move.
