Yesterday we brought you the news that Real Sociedad were expecting a bid from Everton for Diego Llorente.
Noticias De Gipuzkoa reported that Llorente’s agents had told the club to expect a bid from the Toffees this summer.
The Blues have reportedly been scouting at the club regularly for some time. Mostly it was to watch Sandro Ramirez during his loan spell but also Willian Jose. Diego Llorente, apparently, has caught their eye too.
The Toffees are keen to sign a central defender this summer given it’s a problem area for them at this moment in time.
According to the newspaper, only Michael Keane is considered as ‘safe’, with Yerry Mina suffering injuries throughout this season and Phil Jagielka and Kurt Zouma leaving.
Llorente has a €50m release clause, but it is felt that a €30m bid would be enough to convince La Real to sell. Noticias de Gipuzkoa back up that claim further today.
They claim that Real Sociedad are looking to raise funds this summer and have already put several players on the transfer list. Some of those are big names such as Adnan Januzaj and Willian Jose.
The club would also be willing to let Jeronimo Rulli leave and would be more than happy to send Llorente to Goodison Park should the offer they expect arrive. That is presumably the reported €30m that they claimed in their previous piece.
To be clear, it’s stated if that ‘expected’ offer arrives, the player ‘can leave’.
So far there’s been no talk from the Everton side of things on this and, after paying big for Mina last summer, they seem unlikely to make Llorente a priority this summer.
But, it’s clear from these continuing reports that were they to put the money on the table, Real Sociedad would be more than happy to sell.
