This morning, we’ve already covered a report from El Confidencial which said Everton’s pursuit for Lucas Perez was ‘underway and serious’. And they’re not the only Spanish outlet to be claiming the Toffee’s late strong approach for the player.
According to Sport, Everton told Perez’s entourage they’re ready to pay his €20m release clause.
Their story take claims from Rádio Marca Coruña which said Perez would ask €2m per season in a four-year deal to play for the English club, as all Deportivo are offering him to renew his contract is a bit more than €1m.
Ronald Koeman reportedly approves the signing and is counting on the Everton sport director Steve Walsh to get him an attacking partner for Romelu Lukaku.
Sport says the player’s agent won’t do anything behind Deportivo’s back, but since Everton are willing to pay for the release clause now, there’s not much to negotiate.
Perez is by far La Coruña’s biggest star of the squad. He finished last season with 19 goals and 11 assists, and in only 90 minutes played this weekend, he already had one goal and one assist.
