On Wednesday, Gazzetta dello Sport reported West Ham were favourites to land Juventus’ Douglas Luiz. Now, a different stance has emerged and it favours Everton.

TuttoSport report the Toffees have made ‘significant progress’ in the last few days for the midfielder.

While Everton are now said to lead the race for the Brazilian, the newspaper states the finish line is still some distance away. This is because Juve want an initial loan worth around €10m with the obligation to buy at €30m.

Neither of the English clubs have met that valuation and that is why Douglas Luiz’s exit is yet to materialise.

Corriere dello Sport also report on interest from Everton and West Ham today, but they state that the two clubs have only made simple enquiries for the player.

Agents and intermediaries are trying to find a new club for the Brazil international, who is interested in a move.

Don’t be surprised if the situation changes again to favour West Ham. Essentially, Juventus want a loan with an obligation and to avoid a capital loss. Whoever offers that can sign the player.
