Everton won’t need to make a significant offer if they are to lure defender Kévin Boma from Estoril Praia this month.

That’s according to Bola Na Rede, who have two separate reports on Boma today. They come after Everton were linked with the defender yesterday.

A report from journalist Rudy Galetti linked Boma with a move to the Hill Dickinson Arena. He stated that Estoril were not closing the door on a departure.

Bola Na Rede now dispute that. They state that the Togolese player is considered an important member of the team. It would take ‘significant offers’ for the defender to convince the Estoril management into a sale.

However, the amount isn’t huge by Premier League standards.

Boma has also been the subject of interest from Polis club Widzew Łódź. Estoril responded to that interest by asking for €5m. According to the second report, they were only willing to offer €2m and so the deal has not advanced.

Rangers were credited with interest in May, but nothing came of that.

Everton would need €5m for transfer

Estoril have made it clear to them, and apparently others, that they want at least €5m. Whether Everton are willing to pay that figure, remains to be seen. Their apparent interest could be questioned anyway.

The Toffees are not in desperate need of a centre-back at this moment in time. And, if they were searching for a new centre-back, they would likely be looking at higher levels than Estoril Praia and 23-year-old Boma.

Of course, there’s always the chance they’ve seen something that others haven’t. €5m is also not a lot of money for a Premier League club, even one that has to be careful like Everton. That could be tempting them into a potential deal.

For now, though, we’ll take this with a pinch of salt. Everton have other needs and it’s hard to see this being a move they’re actively pursuing. If they do decide to, though, Estoril have set their asking price very clearly.
