Despite wanting to sign an attacking midfielder in January and linked with half of Europe, Napoli ended the winter transfer window with no one.

The likes of Amin Younes and Everton’s Davy Klaassen were top of their list, but the former decided to stay at Ajax for the rest of the season and the latter was of no use to the Italians as he couldn’t play in the Europa League.

However, that doesn’t mean they’ve given up entirely on the Dutch playmaker, as Corriere dello Sport explain the 25-year-old is still the type of player Aurelio de Laurentiis wants for his side, much like a certain Mateo Kovacic.

In fact, the Italian newspaper explain the Holland international is ‘biting his nails’ at having decided to reject (multiple times) the Serie A leaders, implying he’s worried he made the wrong decision by moving to Goodison Park.

Klaassen hasn’t featured for Sam Allardyce in the league this season, and was already out of the squad by the time the one-time England manager was appointed to take over from Ronald Koeman.

He’ll be gone next summer, and it won’t be for the £24m Everton paid Ajax for his services last summer.
