Everton and Manchester United have both had scouts in attendance at Real Valladolid to watch Mohammed Salisu in recent weeks.
That’s according to Pucela Fichajes, who believe that both clubs are keen on the central defender.
Salisu has been enjoying a strong campaign with Valladolid, starting all 17 of their league games so far and helping them have the best defensive record in the bottom half of La Liga.
His performances have earned attention from the Premier League, with Everton, Newcastle and Manchester United all credited with an interest in recent months.
So far none of those clubs have made their interest formal, but according to Pucela Fichajes, Everton and Manchester United continue to keep an eye on him.
They report that both clubs have ‘followed the player’ in ‘the last league matches’, suggesting they remain very interested in the 20-year-old at this point.
The interest has not gone unnoticed by the Spanish club, with sports director Miguel Ángel Gómez talking about it in the past.
However, that’s something he won’t be doing moving forward, admitting the 20-year-old’s performances are being affected because of the continued talk.
“We have to learn from mistakes,” he reportedly said.
“With Calero, we made a mistake, which is talking all day about his future. Calero himself came to say it publicly, and Salisu who is younger than Calero we have to protect him.
“We are not going to talk about him anymore. We will not generate more controversy or confusion around him.”
