It appears that Everton intend to cash in on Niels Nkounkou this summer when he returns from his loan at Saint-Etienne, according to Homme du Match.
The left-back joined the Ligue 2 side during the January transfer window after his loan at Cardiff was cut short, and he has found a new lease of life in France.
The young defender has been praised for his performances of late, which earned him a call-up to the France U21 squad this international break as a replacement for an injured compatriot.
We’ve already covered a story on the fact Everton could ask for some money, but Homme du Match go a step further and explain the player ‘will be placed on the transfer list’ this summer.
While Saint-Etienne could be tempted to sign him, it’s also stated that those in charge of the Ligue 2 side ‘will struggle to find the €3m’ believed to be required to sign him from the Toffees, ‘especially for a defender’.
That means there’s a strong chance the player returns to Everton first, where they might not have such a hard time to move him on, as his stock has certainly increased nicely over the past couple of months.
