Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite has been out on loan at PSV Eindhoven since last summer and has been a regular for the Dutch club this season.
The 20-year-old’s impressive displays for the Eredivisie side have earned him his first call-up from England U21s for the ongoing international break.
However, the Everton owned man has been ‘forced to opt out’ of the Young Lions’ squad due to an injury, and this was confirmed by PSV’s official website on Monday. He picked up an injury in his side’s 1-1 draw against Vitesse on Sunday.
According to Eindhovens Dagblad, the initial diagnosis on the centre-back have revealed a thigh muscle sprain. Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side will face NEC Nijmegen on April 1st and Branthwaite could be available for selection for this tie, if he trains next week.
PSV will keep the centre-back in Eindhoven and allow the club’s medical staff to help him in his recovery.
This information was reported by journalist Rik Elfrink, who then took to Twitter to explain the Everton man’s injury ‘doesn’t look very serious’ as of now.
