Italy’s Calciomercato appeared on Saturday evening with some big claims about Everton interest in Rafael Leao.

In a very small report, the website insisted Carlo Ancelotti’s side have been serious about trying to sign the AC Milan player, and have therefore had a €30m offer ready.

Such an amount isn’t considered enough for the Rossoneri, as they continue their fight to win Serie A this season, so the Merseyside club club would have to return with an improved offer.

That would have to be a big jump on the €30m, a huge offer in itself, with it being stated any bid would need to be ‘much higher’.

Rafael Leao joined Milan in 2019 from Lille, and at first struggled to live up to the hype, with there even being claims of a quick exit not long after that. Things changed, and so far this season he’s played 14 Serie A matches, scoring five times and adding four assists.

Despite that, Everton making such a big money attempt in the January feels hard to fully believe. A move would be likelier for the summer, and this could all be an attempt to talk the player’s value up.

Don’t be surprised when the inevitable claims of a potential swap with Moise Kean start.
