A couple of months ago, when Ramon Planes left his job as technical secretary at Barcelona, having previous been a sporting director at the club, there was a big reaction from the Spanish media wondering where he’d work next.

It was soon reported the official wanted a job abroad, followed by rumours of an approach made by Newcastle United, but that never materialised.

Now as outlet AS are back writing about the 54-year-old today, they say Everton are one of the clubs who’ve been in touch with him.

Their story claims that the Toffees made contact with Planes after Marcel Brands left his job in December. They say even though it’s Rafa Benitez who’s ‘taken the responsibility’ for now, the manager ‘could count on Planes’ support’.

AS claims that Planes has also been getting approaches from clubs in Serie A and La Liga, where Valencia would like to have him.

Due to his wish to work abroad, English and Italian sides are seen as ‘preferred destinations’.

Benitez’s stance on the situation would be key prior to any further approaches.
