Friday has seen some reports in Spain suggest Atlético Madrid are looking at Real Madrid’s Mariano Díaz.
These claims have been relayed by Sport and state Los Rojiblancos have joined the list of clubs chasing the 27-year-old with Everton getting a mention when talking about those clubs who are after Los Blancos’ striker.
According to the report, the Real Madrid player ‘interests several teams’, including the Toffees, as Carlo Ancelotti’s side join Lyon and a few other clubs in ‘following’ the Dominican Republic international’s situation.
Mariano returned to Santiago Bernabéu from Lyon in 2018, but has struggled to cement a place in Zinedine Zidane’s plans.
The Frenchman gave his approval for the player to change clubs in the last transfer window, with the likes of Benfica coming forward to take him on a loan deal.
However, the attacker turned down the opportunity to join the Portuguese side after they agreed a deal with Real Madrid.
It’s claimed Mariano ‘begins to understand’ his dream of succeeding at the Madrid based club is diminishing as ‘time passes’.
A move away from the Spanish champions in January could be on the cards, with Everton one of the clubs currently following the forward, perhaps listing him as an alternative for other strikers they’ve been reportedly looking at, such as Arkadiusz Milik.
