On May 26th, Gazzetta dello Sport stated Everton could be an option for Juventus’ Arthur Melo, who spent the recently concluded season on loan at Fiorentina and did pretty well.
Three days ago, Calciomercato.it journalist Giorgio Musso backed up the Toffees’ interest in the 27-year-old.
Arthur is unlikely to be considered by new Juve manager Thiago Motta, and is seen as a way to make money. Tuttosport claim he could end up at Everton in the summer window.
It’s claimed Juventus technical director Cristiano Giuntoli is working to find a club in the Premier League for the Brazilian.
Despite suggesting West Ham as an option for Arthur, Tuttosport say Everton appear to be the ‘most likely destination’ for him this summer. That’s because the Toffees have followed the former Liverpool man for a while, and they have ‘concrete interest’ in him.
The report adds the deal could take shape in the ‘next few days’ if AS Roma owners, the Friedkin Group, end up taking over Everton. There’s no mention of the formula for the transfer or if Arthur is willing to join Sean Dyche’s side.
The South American made 48 appearances for Fiorentina during the 2023/24 season.
