When Portuguese newspapers publish scouting lists, they don’t give much attention to it.
They do it in a short paragraph in the match pages and that’s all. Normally they don’t say which player the clubs were watching.
That’s why it’s interesting how O Jogo reports Everton’s visit to the Estádio do Dragão today. The Toffees saw Porto beat Nacional 3-1 in the Liga NOS, and apparently had a specific man to watch.
O Jogo had a paragraph in the newspaper, first saying Man United watched Éder Militão, then saying Everton scouted Yacine Brahimi, and listing all the other clubs without naming their targets.
Then the outlet had a story on their website, this time all focused on Everton, saying the Toffees probably left the stadium ‘convinced’ due to Brahimi’s good performance. Then they list all the clubs who had scouts in the match.
Returning from injury, Brahimi had a pretty good game with two goals. With the result all set, he was replaced at the 60th minute.
Brahimi is running out of contract with Porto at the end of the season, and has already been linked to Everton last month.
