Everton have been credited with an interest in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Daichi Kamada.
Fussball Transfers state the Toffees have ‘knocked on the door’ for the Japan international and have joined Villarreal and Benfica in chasing the player. It’s claimed the ‘really big names’ have not yet arrived to sign the 26-year-old.
The attacking midfielder won the Europa League with the German club, and his deal runs down in 2023, meaning his future at Eintracht Frankfurt beyond this is uncertain but that has not impacted his performances on the pitch, which Everton have taken notice of.
Kamada has starred for his side this season as he has managed 12 goals and three assists in all competitions.
He will be part of the Japan squad at the 2022 World Cup, and the report says it is unrealistic that the player will make a decision future before the FIFA tournament in Qatar.
Based on the time left on Kamada’s contract and Frank Lampard’s side among his suitors, the January window will be the last chance for Frankfurt to cash in from his sale.
This gives Everton an opportunity, but Bild earlier reported it won’t be easy for the Toffees because the Japanese’s employer would make any potential deal difficult in the winter market, meaning it would take a lot to get something done in January.
