Everton are one of several clubs keeping track of highly-rated PSV Eindhoven youngster Donyell Malen.
Malen, a former Arsenal youth graduate, has emerged as one of the hottest young properties in the Netherlands over the past two seasons.
Last year saw him shining in the Eredivisie with ten goals and five assists in 31 games, with him also bagging a goal in Champions League qualifying.
He has carried that form into this season, with 11 goals and four assists in 14 games in all competitions to date and seven in six in the Eredivisie.
That has earned him the attention of clubs around Europe, and according to CalcioMercato, Everton are among his suitors.
The outlet doesn’t mention a price tag, or whether there has been contact over the 20-year-old, just Everton, as well as Tottenham and AC Milan, like the young forward.
It’s a signing that would make plenty of sense for Evertoon too. The Blues have made signing young talent a priority, with Director of Football Marcel Brands leading the charge.
This summer saw them sign up Moise Kean from Juventus as part of that strategy and Malen would fit perfectly into the policy Brands is implementing at Goodison Park.
The Dutchman also has a strong history of identifying talent in Holland and signing them up early to develop at his club and then sell for substantial sums in future.
It’s something he did with the likes Georginio Wijnaldum, Davy Pröpper, Kevin Strootman and Memphis Depay during his time at PSV and there’s every chance he views Malen as one he can repeat the trick with at Everton.
Couple those factors with the fact Malen is represented by Mino Raiola, an agent Everton have a good relationship with after negotiating with him for Moise Kean this summer, and the Blues reported interest makes even more sense.
