Everton have reportedly joined Newcastle United in the race for Palmeiras youngster Giovani.
That’s today reported by ESPN Brasil, who shares a piece with some updates on the 19-year-old’s situation at his club.
The same outlet had already reported Newcastle’s interest in the player, claiming the Magpies had sent scouts to Brazil to watch him in action.
Now they claim that Everton can be added to that battle as well. It’s said the Toffees are keeping an eye on the player and consider making an offer for him in the summer.
The story claims Nottingham Forest had also tried to sign the player in January, but failed, and now there’s no mention about them being in the race too.
For Everton and Newcastle to take Giovani out of Palmeiras, ESPN Brasil claims it will take at least €15m to convince the South American side.
The player is well protected with a contract until 2026, and that includes a release clause worth €60m.
With Palmeiras having already turned down offers from Ajax and Nottingham Forest in the past, it’s clear they won’t just let the attacker go for nothing, but the price is certainly affordable for Premier League sides like Newcastle, and potentially Everton if Sean Dyche manages to help them avoid the drop.
