Everton interest in Borussia Monchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi is ‘currently not hot’ and he could remain with the German side after all.

That’s according to journalist Dominik Schneider, who states that while clubs are talking to the Switzerland defender, nothing is concrete or progressing.

Elvedi has been linked with a move away from Monchengladbach all summer, with him and the club keen to part ways, and them even bringing in Max Wöber from Leeds as a replacement.

He had looked likely to join Wolves, but their financial situation meant that deal did not get off the ground and in the interim, Everton have been named as a potential destination.

A report at the end of last week signalled their interest in him but that has since been followed by explanations that Gladbach had not received an offer as yet.

Schneider follows that up and states that, according to his information, a move from Everton for Elvedi is ‘currently not hot’.

He explains that while there are ongoing talks with clubs who have shown ‘some interest’ in him, nothing is progressing and the possibility of staying at Gladbach is possible.

As far as they, and he, are concerned at this moment in time, a transfer is ‘not imminent’, not to Everton anyway.

There is of course time for that to change as the transfer deadline looms closer so don’t rule it out just yet, but as of now, there has been no progress beyond that initial interest.
