AS Roma planned to make some money from Tammy Abraham this summer. The striker hadn’t enjoyed the best of campaigns and it was felt he’d like to return to England, which suited the Serie A club perfectly.
The hope was that multiple Premier league clubs would come forward and start something of a battle for the forward. Whilst that may have been ambitious, it’s likely at least one club would have made an effort.
Forza Roma say ‘the eyes of the Premier League’ have been on Abraham, with ‘Everton above all’.
However, the Toffees won’t be signing him this summer and neither will any other club, that’s because the 25-year-old picked up an injury in Roma’s final match of the season.
Abraham had to leave the pitch against Spezia at the weekend, and Calciomercato report it’s since been found out he’s picked up an anterior cruciate injury.
That means he’s likely to be out of action for nine months, returning around March 2024.
One for Everton and other interested parties to strike off their list.
