Everton are holding ‘non-stop contacts’ with Marcelo Bielsa to make him their next manager but he would prefer to wait until June.
That’s according to TuttoMercatoWeb, who say the Toffees are ‘pressing’ for Bielsa to replace Frank Lampard at Goodison Park.
Lampard was sacked earlier this week after a miserable run of form that has culminated in Everton sitting in the bottom three of the Premier League and looking likely to get relegated.
TMW report that there have been ‘non-stop contacts’ between Everton and the Argentine, with Everton determined to get him to Merseyside this month.
El Loco has a different plan in mind, though, and would like to wait until the summer before accepting any offers.
While he likes the idea of testing himself in England again and would even be willing to take charge of Everton if they were relegated to the Championship, he would prefer to wait until the summer.
That is presumably because he would prefer to have a whole summer and pre-season to get the squad up to scratch and embedded in his methods, something which would be more difficult to do mid-season.
That doesn’t suit Everton, however, and it remains to be seen if they can convince Bielsa to change his mind over the coming days.
