Marseille skipper Steve Mandanda is set to depart from the Ligue 1 club this summer, and he hopes to sign for a La Liga or Premier League side.
The French international has been repeatedly linked with a move to Everton, who are looking for a replacement of Tim Howard, but there could be more interest from the Premier League.
According to French website Le 10 Sport, Chelsea are interested in signing Mandanda, but he is unlikely to be the first choice at the London club.
Asmir Begovic could leave Stamford Bridge this summer for regular football, so Mandanda is seen as a replacement for Begovic on the bench, and a few cup games.
Thibaut Courtois is likely to stay at Chelsea beyond the summer, and it remains to be seen if Mandanda is ready to be his understudy.
A move to Everton could also be tempting, as the 31-year-old would be guaranteed regular playing time at the Merseyside club.
It is worth pointing out Le 10 Sport are not the most reliable media outlet in France, and there were similar reports in the English media.
Mandanda has been in impressive form this season, and has often bailed out Marseille. He is currently on international duty with France’s national team at the Euros, and should be a good signing for both the mentioned clubs.
Taking a place on the bench has to be unlikely for Mandanda, who was the best goalkeeper in France last season. So good was Mandanda that there were some asking for him to be picked ahead of captain Hugo Lloris.
Given all of that, an Everton move would appear likelier.
