Everton’s attempts for Bologna full-back Emil Holm may have been handed a boost. The Italian side are now open to a sale this month.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb. The website reports that Holm could leave Bologna in the final days of the transfer window.
According to their information, the right-back is no longer considered unsellable by Bologna. His status has changed after a couple of performances deemed ‘subpar’ by coach Vincenzo Italiano.
Bologna are already drawing up a list of potential replacements for the 26-year-old. That further hints at a potential departure. And that should cause ears at Everton to prick up.
A report earlier this month stated that Everton had already submitted a bid for the defender. They offered a structured deal that would have seen Nathan Patterson included as a swap.
A further report yesterday then followed that directly. This time, Everton had asked for Holm as part of a potential loan deal for Beto. Bologna are interested in the striker, but only on a loan deal. Everton therefore asked for the full-back outright as a counterpart.
At that point, a deal was seen as unlikely. Holm was considered a key player for the Italian side and not up for sale. Now the tone has changed considerably according to TMW. Bologna are open to a sale and that could present Everton with their opportunity.
They’d certainly welcome the addition of a right-back this month if they can. It’s a problem position for David Moyes, to say the least. Given Holm is on their list, it’s now worth asking about him once again.
