Eden Hazard, undisputed starter for Belgium, dropping out of the squad due to an ankle injury has caused the local media to try and guess who will start in his stead, with every forward questioned about the situation in interviews following training sessions.

Nacer Chadli was already asked about it on Tuesday, and Friday was Everton’s Kevin Mirallas’ turn to have to sound as professional as possible when answering the journalists.

Of course, the Belgian forward was open about his desire to play just off the left of the main striker, who happens to be his Goodison Park teammate Romelu Lukaku, and Mirallas is hoping that complicity plays in his favour when Roberto Martinez has to finally make a decision for the World Cup qualifier against Greece on Saturday evening.

He told the media, relayed by DH: “Yeah, I play on that side a lot at Everton, and regarding Romelu, I know him very well, we get on great, the manager knows that, and I hope it helps me.”

Often left out at Everton under Roberto Martinez last season, leading to rumours of a Goodison Park exit, Mirallas has found far more joy under Ronald Koeman during the current campaign.

The winger has made 28 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring four goals and picking up four assists, including one of each in an impressive 4-0 win over Manchester City back in January.
