Aside from the likes of Gerard Deulofeu, one of the big names who was always expected to leave Watford this summer was Abdoulaye Doucouré.

The French midfielder has been one of the stars at Vicarage Road, and it was always expected for a club to try and buy him this summer, as there was little chance he would want to play in the Championship.

Well, Everton are the first to have made a move, and they have taken some big steps towards securing his move to Goodison Park.

That’s according to the new TV channel in France, Téléfoot Chaine, via their journalist Saber Desfarges, who took to Twitter on Tuesday to reveal the news.

He reports that an agreement has been found between Everton and Doucouré over a four-year contract.

As for the negotiations between the Toffees and Watford, the Hornets are said to have refused a first offer from Marcel Brands and co., with a second bid on its way.

It’s revealed the player was ‘convinced by Carlo Ancelotti’ and has ‘made Everton his priority’.
