Everton have entered the race for Saint-Étienne winger Zuriko Davitashvili, with the French side fearful of losing him this month.

That’s according to Foot Mercato. They report that panic has gripped Saint-Étienne as they look like potentially losing their star man.

They say that Davitashvili is attracting more interest than ever before. Fenerbahce are in the running and Besiktas were a few weeks ago as well. But the competition has intensified further. Everton have entered into the race and Benfica are also now vying for hi.

The Saint-Étienne board have ruled out selling the Georgian international this month and are sticking to that stance.

They consider him as essential to securing promotion from Ligue 2 at the end of the season. The player and his entourage are not necessarily on the same page, though. A standoff between them and the French club now seems to be developing.

The feeling is that the transfer window could be a long one for Saint-Étienne as a result. All indications are that Davitashvili and his agents will push to leave if they need to.

That will likely depend on the likes of Everton, Fenerbahçe or any of the Portuguese suitors making a firm bid to get him.
