Everton are one of the main contenders to sign Moussa Dembele, according to claims from France.
Journalist Ignazio Genuardi today shares an update on the 26-year-old’s situation, as he’s leaving Lyon at the end of his contract.
Now as a free agent, Dembele has been linked to several clubs, especially Galatasaray, who have reportedly been ‘positioned for several months’ to land him.
However, according to Genuardi, the Premier League is a real option for the forward, with Everton ‘currently pushing’ to land the striker.
The Toffees would also have competition from Crystal Palace to take him to England.
Featuring for Lyon this season, Dembele had three goals and one assist in 28 appearances, and barely played for the Ligue 1 side in the past couple of months.
Everton have been linked to the striker since the January window, so it makes sense that his recent lack of playing time doesn’t affect their interest, especially because the French club were fully aware he’d be leaving them for free.
Now the Toffees just need to worry about the clubs who are wiling to put up a fight for the signing. Unfortunately for Dembele, it’s a lower level of clubs than he was once aiming for… but that makes it easier for Everton.
